The app competition encourages teams from across OSU ecosystem to build and present a mobile application that showcases their creativity and skills. AAA will sponsor the App Competition. Teams will compete for prizes based on the innovation, presentation, and impact of the application.

The focus of the competition is “INFORMATION SHARING AT OSU”. The goal of the competition is to create an app, which is focused on college life that students would find valuable and use often.

The app can be in the following categories.

  1. Travel

  2. Transportations

  3. Safety and Security

  4. Insurance

  5. Finance

  6. Cowboy Experience

The competition is divided into two Phases. The first phase is open to individuals with an app idea in the categories mentioned above. The second phase is open to individuals with app development skills. The teams in the second phase will develop the app based on the winning idea from the first phase. Winners of the first phase are not eligible to compete in the second phase. The winners of the first phase must also be willing to judge the second phase of the competition.

The Live Demo portion of the competition will be held on April 26th, 2013 at 12.30 pm

Live Demo Rules and Tips
Each team will have 3 Minutes to demo their app, demo should be concise, interesting, and outline the features and functionality of the app.  The demo will be followed by a short Q&A. Teams will have access to a projector and the internet during their presentations. We are currently working on getting a developer license to test apps on mobile devices. Hence, we will not be able to provide a test device for the live demo. However, teams are allowed to use their own mobile devices to demonstrate their apps.

March 7, 2013 - First cut announcement, teams selected in the First Cut must submit a detailed description of their app idea.

March 19, 2013 - First Cut Submission

March 26, 2013, 1pm to 2pm - Elevator Pitch (each team selected from the First Cut will have 2 minutes to present their app idea to the judges)
